On January 2, 1997, Gold Coast showcased Cavalcade of Comedy in the 490-seat Dance Hall Showroom at the casino. On October 19, 1995, a Nevada truck driver won a jackpot of $10,918,881.00 on a Megabucks slots machine, the largest jackpot in Nevada history at the time. It was originally meant to cater to the fast growing local popularity. It was the first ever casino in Las Vegas to have a first-run movie theater after the original MGM Grand (Now known as Bally's in 1986). The hotel officially opened December 21, 1986.
